From Ellis Island he went to St. Louis, Missouri, to live with his older sister Angelina Giacalone, the wife of Gaspare Giacalone, to work on the railroad. After five years, they all saved enough money to move to San Diego to go fishing. After a total of 20 years of living and working in the United States, he moved back to Sicily to get married...
